Summer Items

Easiest Flog Blog of the year coming up…a quick shout round the office of “What do we have online relating to summer” left me bombarded with suggestions from everyone left in the office on this 30 degrees celsius, sunny, Friday afternoon: Wendy and Karen.

Ray-Bans: They get overloaded with superfluous adjectives, but I think that “cool”says it all.

I don’t have kids, but if I did they’d definitely be wearing a pair of Ray-Bans (see above) and probably this cute bathing costume: Fingers crossed I don’t have a boy….

Say what you like about Kate Moss, the girlies I know always seem very impressed with her line at Topshop (although I personally I think she has as much input as David Beckham does on his autobiography(s)). From this summers collection we have a wrap dress, we have a poppy print strapless dress and we have a maxi dress….and they all started at 99p with only a few days to go.

Beach, Park or Street: Buy an Ipod (This Ipod is about as good value as you will get - 99p at the time of writing), put some tunes on it. Sorted.

Hands up time once again for the Flog Blogger: I’d never heard of Birkenstock sandals until they landed on my desk last week and I’ve literally seen them everywhere since. Maybe I’m stating the obvious, but they seem to be the “must have” thing to show off your toes with this summer. We have three pairs (yes, 3) for £50. That's just over £15 a piece if you've got two mates with the same size feet....

World cup final this weekend: We’re not selling anything Orange or Spanish and I’ve already written a whole blog on the replica World Cup, so not a lot else to say.

Adios a todos,

World Cup Trophy

The Flogit4u team wouldn’t be normal football fans, nae human beings, if we didn’t hoist this amazing item above our heads at least once, shake it about, maybe even kiss it and feel the adulation of a whole nation…I really hope I’m not the only person in the office who’s done this.

So, what can you do with an actual size model of the famous Jules Rimet trophy?

1) Pretend Scotland have finally won the World Cup and you’ve just wrestled the trophy from the Queen before waving it in front on the screaming home fans (Scotland always beats England at Wembley in my dreams).

2) Recreate the 1966 final in your living room (although you might as well just watch it on any number of TV shows that will be showing it over the course of the next month).

3) Put it in your restaurant:  I’ve only see one of these in the past and it was in a small pizzeria in Aberdeen. It had pride of place in the window and my Dad convinced me that it was the actual trophy and that the chef won it for making good pizzas.

4) Take it to the park and host the most elaborate presentation ceremony ever to grace the end of a casual kick about with your mates. (I really, really want to do this).

Watches Online

We’ve got loads of watches online at the moment: Some sporty, some casual, some day wear, some evening wear. All fantastic brands. All at a price you won’t beat online.

What name springs to mind when you think of high-end, designer time-pieces? That’s right, Rolex.

The FlogBlogger must admit, he’d never really heard of this brand until last year, but now he has. Santa, I know it’s a wee bit early, but can I have a Technomarine.

Another massive name in the world of watches and this one helps to keep you healthy. Yup, it's the Phip Stein Teslar.  I haven’t heard of a watch like that since the A Team one I had when I was seven that encouraged you to run round in circles chasing baddies.

Require cool and practical? Look no further than this Baume & Mercier

Check out our jewellery section for more watches than you could shake a wrist at.

Bizarre eBay Sales

Selling a wall for a million pounds is unusual even for eBay’s standards, yet that’s what one Londoner is hoping to achieve for the outer wall of his office building.

Far from being a standard brick wall adorned with the usual whitewash paint and rickety guttering, it has received the Midas touch from graffiti artist Banksy. The guerrilla artist has quickly become a collector’s favourite across the world due to his quirky political/social commentary and urban style.

With a reserve price of £10,000 and an estimated final sale of price of a cool £1 million this could prove to be the highest price ever paid for a piece of masonry. Banksy’s guerrilla artwork is scattered all over London and it is feared that such blatant selling of his graffiti could lead to the dismantling of walls across the capitol as people try and cash in on his success. The seller of his latest piece must be delighted that he actually owns the wall that the Bristol born artist chose to vandalise.

Hopefully, he’ll be laughing all the way to the Banksy…

Royal Connections

As far as seats go, one used at a royal investiture for the heir to the throne is a rare find indeed. Can you think of a better piece to welcome guests as they enter your home?

Flogit4u are in the process of selling one of the seats that guests and other royal members used at the investiture of Prince Charles. Of course, we cannot tell if it was a royal posterior that rested on the seat, but the Family at large attended the 1969 event.

Links to the monarchy aside, the seat has been beautifully designed and lovingly handmade.  The seat was designed by Lord Snowdon, no doubt drawing on influences from around the world to make the round-backed chair as comfortable and eye catching as possible. The Prince of Wales’s feathers with the Latin “ich Dien” (I serve) written through it is embossed in the back of the chair in gold paint.

You don’t have to be a royalist to appreciate this gorgeous chair!!!

Designer Clothes

Vivienne Westwood is the jewel in crown of the UK’s fashion world and she has shocked and wowed the British public for nearly 5 decades. More importantly, her clothes – particularly vintage lines – are as in demand as ever.

Flogit4u recently sold two Westwood pieces, bought in the eighties for £500 each. These items had been languishing in someone’s wardrobe and were flogged on eBay just before Christmas! There is always huge demand on eBay for vintage clothes, especially labels that are quintessentially English.

Have a look through your cupboards tonight and see if you can find something to flog with your local eBay drop off store!

Photography

The digital camera revolution is sweeping through the world and nobody wants to be left behind, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that your old equipment is totally defunct.

There are still many, many photographers out there - both professionally and amateur - who like using film cameras and find that online auctions are the best places to pick up quality items.

Flogit4u has an excellent reputation among camera enthusiasts as somewhere that quality items can be bought and sold for great value. We sell everything from pro SLR camera bodies to compact cameras, tripods to shoulder harnesses for digital video filming.

At the moment we have some fantastic Polaroid and 35mm equipment online. The Polaroid cameras are not only collectable, but would make an excellent “retro” accessory at parties this summer. Digital cameras are all very well, but Polaroid  cameras also offer “instant” images in a different – but very special – format.

Check out our photography auctions to see what we have on offer!!!Why not give us a call to see if your 35mm equipment can be sold online?
